3 events are held last week.
FIRST - STRATHCLYDE UNI
CNY event held by Strathclyde Uni (which is my school). There are performance by dunno who. Like dragon dance and etc... They manage to find loads of children to perform some chinese dance which is good. But I would think the locals enjoyed it more since most are amused by them. People said the food is good. Restaurant food - Rumours sponsored as well! But apparently, it's soooo good that by the time I'm there, everything's GONE!!! ArrGGhhh... (And I plan to have dinner there - FREE restaurant food!) Determined not to leave empty handed, I queue at the chinese calligraphy stall and get a bookmark with my name nicely written. Haha... There's latern making and paper cutting as well, but too lazy to queue.
Results: Off to Rumours (which is now my favourite restaurant) for REAL dinner.
SECOND - GLASGOW UNI
Glasgow Uni held a Gobal Village event where representatives from 15 countries each cook their country's specialities and we eat & eaT & EAT. Well, maybe not eat & eat & eat since there are not enough food. Couldn't even find a fork until much later. Thought I found a Coco cake at the persian stall. It's actually Coo Coo, which is ahem... gooy extreme vegetable-ish thingy. Like the curry from the malaysian stall and almond cake from the german stall most. By everything's gone when I go for a second round. Well... Coo Coo is still there! Haha...
(Seems like the organiser finds it most apt to place the Singapore stall next to the Malaysia stall. Or is it purely coincidental? Haha...)
Results: Off to Rumours for REAL dinner again. (What a waste of my 5 pounds entry ticket! Haha)
THIRD - EDINBURGH UNI
In the same week, Edinburgh Uni held a Singapore food festival. So, off we go to Edinburgh. We seems to be going wherever there's food. Haha... So, 5 pounds later, still a hungry me. Not enough food again!
Miss BAPSRC
Met Miss BAPSRC (Bitchy-Arrogant-Preppy-Snotty-Rude-n-Cocky) at the mee siam stall who is a volunteer in the event. Actually, all are volunteers. Asked for 2 portions since I'm taking one for Leslie as well. After passing one to me, Miss BAPSRC held the 2nd bowl up and ask in the most stuck-up BAPSRC manner "Who is this for?".
"I'm taking it for my friend", I said. Not convinced, she refuse to pass it to me and continue to stand in a 'I think I'm a super model' position (one hand still holding the bowl high up like it contains gold and the other at her waist) looking at me in a 'I-don't-believe-you-so-i'm-not-giving-it-to-you' look. Meanwhile, holding up the other 20 odd people in the queue. A minute after me standing dumbfounded and flabbergasted at such a suggestion, another volunteer quickly take the bowl from her and pass it to me , telling her that she can't do that. Looking back after I walked away from the stall, I saw her vicious eyes following me like she's gonna crucify me if she caught me eating the bowl of mee siam. What an idiot!
Great, so after spending money and time on the train to Edinburgh and money on the event ticket, still leaving hungry, I'm probably now known as the trying-to-cheat-them-out-of-a-bowl-of-mee siam-gal.
Note: All portions/bowl are only a mouthful as they are in the most pathetic tasting portion size.
So, that's my week... And on Sunday, I'm watching - The Ultimate Crime Fighter at home. Really nice. Going to finish it soon. :-)
